Immigration:

To stay or not to stay? That is the question. What is your answer?

With all the talk and debates about immigration, I would like to know what everyone that reads this thinks.

I'll save my thoughts for a little while to give everyone a chance to comment.

Wow, quite a topic, Jim.

I haven't heard much debating (but I have 2 small kids and news is well, boring to them!)

From a purely off the cuff point of view, we need to remember that all of us are decendants of immigrants at one point or another. The pilgrims weren't born here either!

more on what dawn said. i wrote a paper on immigration last year...ill see if i can dig it up. the statue of liberty's tablet says: "give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free. send these - the homeless, tempest tossed to me..."
okay - those are words from memory so they may not be perfect. the point is that this is america. we are free. how can we possibly deny that privelidge to others? what makes us better than them? everyone, EVERYONE deserves the chance to be free.
love ya tons!

But what about the ones who are here Illegally? should they stay, go to prison, be treated as the county they come from treat illegals? Should they have Drivers licenses? Lots of things to discuss...Give me more...

illegally? i think they should be sent back, but with the proper paperwork and procedure information in their hand. not that those that get here illegally should have a higher priority than those that did it the right way, but the know-how about the proper procedure. driver's licences and any other PRIVELIDGES that come with being an american citizen should not be allowed. i totally agree with the fact that they should demonstrate their ability and desire to be a CONTRIBUTING american. the system is flawed, and they have no way of keeping tabs on those that come in on a temp visa either...def needs some improvement!
